The Book Club

We met at a small cafe downtown and we were about 8 people. Kate, Sarah, Matt, me, Nicola, Joshua, Doug, Mila. Everybody seemed to know one another but me. And I donot like being in such places..kinda unnerving. Anyways, it was one hell of an experience. We talked about the books we had read, the kind of music we listened to, what were our dreams, where we were, etc. I have never opened up to a bunch of strangers like the way I did with them. It was superb! Simply superb. and refreshing too. Each one of them had a story to tell. Unique and turbulent. Exciting and difficult. What was even more amazing was the way they made me feel comfortable. I felt I had known them for ages. We spent 4 hours in a cafe and the kind of conversation I had with them made me feel so alive,...happy. I have already begun to look forward to the next meeting, where we will discuss the first 3 chapters.

On my way back, it struck me as quite odd, that we open up to strangers so easily and yet with the ones we;ve known for years, we find it so difficult to speak our mind. why? Is it for the fear of being ridiculed at? or simply the fear of losing them? Why are we so afraid of the ones we love?

Matt- yes..he is the same book club guy...and he asked me out. :) The minute I saw him, I knew we had a connection. Sitting on opposite sides of the table, I could feel his gaze burn my skin. We went out for dinner and I had the most stimulating talk with him. AND he smelled so damn good!!

**sigh** I guess I am already falling in love with him.

I can't help but think that had it not been for BluePont, I would've never met Kate and her book club pals.

Dreamt of Gregory Peck making love to me right next to Trevi Fountain. **sigh**

So I wake up surprisingly early and happy (could definetly feel a foolish grin on my face) to find June's bed not slept in. Looks like she had a "fun" night.

I have an entire day in fornt of me with absolutely nothing to do. Yayyy!! Think I'll head out to the corner bookstore and buy that book I ought to begin reading. Thank god, I have no work spilled over to the weekend. This is turning out to be one happy weekend for me.

Life's good...welcome weekend

Ok..maybe i am the first one on this planet to say it...but grey's anatomy season finale was a disappointment. honestly! It was way too predictable and kinda dragged on for like the entire time. The only exciting bit was the last 1 minute when Mer is screaming at the top of her lung "It's GEORGE" and when izzie faints..other than that.. the tears did not make me cry abnd the happiness did not make my stomach flutter,

And in other news, our book club has chosen The Impressionist by HAri Kunzru as the book to be reviewed. Call me stupid but this book club thing is making me nervous. Kinda like how one feels right before exams. Anyways, will give this a shot. Maybe I'll begin to like it.

June getting better now. Atleast, she has stopped nagging me about that Italian guy. She's gonna be "bluPonting" tonight.

And me...well..I guess I'll curl up and watch Roman Holiday with some pasta and coke to keep me company.

A long week and a beautiful date

Juggling a lot of stuff these days.Been out of action for sometime.
Had a ton of work piled up. Plus, June has been staying over.

Oh and in case you were wondering how my yacht date went , it was awsum!!!

The ocean, starlit night...the calm waves..breathtaking view..and the long romantic kiss in the end.

It was one of the best and the classiest dates I have been on. **sigh** I'm still hung over. It's too bad, though, that he is gone now. Had to get back to Italy. He's promised to call me from there, but I'm not much of a long-distance gal. And I told him, I was'nt really looking for a relationship for now.

Dont think I can handle one at this point in my life.

June calls me a blithering fool for turning him down...but whatever! She's too impulsive anyway. I bet she would've married him if she were me. Mad , crazy woman she is.

Anyways, was at the library and BluPont rang and told me someone was looking for a reading club member . When I accepted this, I met Sarah, who's formed a small book club and was looking for member via BluPont. So, the bottomline is I am now a member of Fish Bowl, a book club that meets once every fortnight. There are 6 members as of now. I am trying to persuade June to join with me..but she ain't the reading type.

Saw Grey's Anatomy, EP22. must say, I bawled my eyes out. Izzy looked so pretty in her wedding gown. I WANT THAT GOWN!!! Can't wait for the season finale.

Well...i gotta get back to work. Let me know how your weekend was. :)

Is this a dreeeeeem?

HE CALLED!! Yes, he did.

(and just in case you're wondering who the hell am I talking about, it's my "hot-italian-date" who I met via Bluepont)

We spoke for almost an hour on totally random stuff- places we had travelled to, music, politics and even what color hair would suit both of us :) - It was wonderful talking to him. It's so rare to have such varied yet interesting conversation with a guy - which all of you girls will agree!.

**sigh**

He asked me out again. We plan to go sailing over the weekend. :) Can't wait for Saturday!

Spoke to June last night and told her all about my superb date and the fantastic time I had. It seems that she isn'nt having such a great time in Italy after all. She fell sick the moment they landed and has been advised to go back as soon as she can. Poor girl! I hope she makes it back ok...

Gosh! I feel torn between feeling sorry and bad for June and completely ecstatic and excited for my next date. Talk about totally mixed up emotions.

Oh well, I guess I gotta focus on work for now. Have to shop for some clothes in the evening. A girl's gotta look good on a yacht, now, does'nt she.

Shit, the coffee's cold, I have to go.

I'll tell you all about my weekend soon. :)

A layman guide to BluePont...

ok...considering that I have so much time these days...I have lot of time to ponder...It seems that June has always been in my life...it does not occur to me in her presence that we have met only about a year ago?!? when I decided to move from parent's home in Seattle to here...in the city of dreams - the grand New York...anyways - it was my choice and I have to stand up to it - trying to defy all odds...

June came like a breeze in my life - just when i was trying to cope up from broken hear and looking for a great friend...she was such a bitch initially but then we became the best of the buddies...from leering at the same men in the bar to spending lazy Sundays in our pyjamas with cold coffee in hand ...

she still does not know about my blog and so she will never know of how much I cherish her friendship :)...anyways...now she has gone with her boyfriend to Italy - leaving me alone in here...and its for the first time I am feeling lonely after a long time that I thought I will do some wacky stuff and behave like a teenager may be :)))

Here is my attempt to demystify bluepont...

What is Bluepont?
Bluepont is basically a mobile dating tool - it can also though help you find a companion for doing anything - like going out for movie, tennis - but what the heck - who needs it for those when you can actually meet crazy ppl :P

How to get started?
All one needs to do is register onto the site, specify certain details such as age, city, name, sex, etc and who is it that you're looking for. Once you feed all these details , you get to download the software on to your phone and voila! you are now a Bluponter.

What can Bluepont do for you? - or rather where all can it be useful?

It is possible but only for fools and stupid bitches! - You will then receive a private message which will only give a few basic details of the person (guy/girl) and will prompt you to respond. Similarly, your details (minus your number and name) will go to the other;s phone and prompt them to respond. Bluepont then furnishes you with the exact details of their location and gives you a chance to meet each other. You meet, talk and then , well, if things look good, take things further

And this is my favorite bit - Blupont is based on a pretty complicated technology (that of GPS) and is absolutely FREE for women!!

I have had two wonderful experiences while using Blupont and met some really interesting men.So if you;re the kind of a person who's tired of using the irrelevant dating sites and all other cliched means of meetng new and fantastic people, then Bluepont is your kinda stuff.

My New Best Friend...

Today's post is all my new best friend. Read on to find more...

So, obviously June's trip was not canceled and with me sulking all the way to the airport bid her goodbye. I went straight to work after that and in the evening, decided to go to Hush Hush all by myself. Since I was in the mood for some latino/cuban music, this was the right place to be .

So here I was, sipping my margherita when my blackberry started playing its song. BLUEPONT!! I realized that I had almost forgotten about it ...I immediately pulled out my phone to know who what it is trying to do for the demented soul.

I decided to play on...and sent the message to him via Bluepont (I am so happy that I am a girl - its all free for me!!! ) – I sent him a message and asked him what he is doing – when I heard that he is handling a brand and so sounded safe enough - I decided to meet him

And to my surprise - while I am fixing myself another drink,. he walks up to me and well. what do you know.he turns out to be ITALIAN! To maintain anonymity of my superb date, I will call him my "hot-italian-date" (I know..I knoww..it;s a bit over-the-top.. but bear with me!)

I had the best evening ever! HE was funny in a non-goofy way and had the most amazing smile. HE even turned out to be a great dancer. I had one of my most memorable nights.

My "hot-italian-date" and I have exchanged numbers and he has promised to call me tonight. I have a good feeling about this one.

oh! and that best friend of mine.. it’s Bluepont! It probably would have ended up being just another friday nights with me sitting in the corner and enjoying a drink all by myself. Thanks a ton, technology – but for you I would be sulking away to glory with loneliness!

June is GOING TO ITALY!!!

June's going to Italy. WITHOUT ME..which completely, totally and absolutely sucks.

I almost fell off the chair when she told me about her Italy plans yesterday. Her latest catch is an Italian businessman adn he invited her to visit "his country". Blah!

I hate and envy her so much right now. I've been sulking ever since she told me. Damn! she had to go to Italy of all the places in te world.

Italy- the most romantic, vintage and beatutiful cities. Sigh!

Had it not been for the truckload of work I have piled up, I too would have tagged along. Damn! Fuck! Crap!

June plans to kidnap an Italian hottie and bring him back to San Fran. Well, no thanks, June. I'd rather go get one myself.

My jealousy is preventing me to write any further.

I'l come back In my better moods.

**sigh** I love you June, and I hope your trip is cancelled!

Fools in Love...

Yes, that’s right. I am the hugest fan of Grey’s Anatomy. I cried my heart out when Izzie’s was diagnosed with cancer, when Cristina had a breakdown over Burke’s betrayal, when Denny died.

All the characters are so real, yet unbelievable. They show love as it is. Complicated and hard. Everybody wants it but only a few succeed.

I have been heartbroken so many times while watching the show, but I also have let the warm hope and magical dreams sweep over me. What I love most about the show is the opening commentary that underlines the theme- when any one of the characters begins and ends with the most practical yet optimistic view of life. They state life as it is. As we experience it.

One of my favorite quotes from the show:

“You know how when you were a little kid and you believed in fairy tales, that fantasy of what your life would be, white dress, prince charming who would carry you away to a castle on a hill. You would lie in bed at night and close your eyes and you had complete and utter faith. Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy, Prince Charming, they were so close you could taste them, but eventually you grow up, one day you open your eyes and the fairy tale disappears. Most people turn to the things and people they can trust. Austen Love...

I'm a sucker for romantic movies and jane austen. The beautiful and strong headed heroine, the swashbuckling hero, the beautiful green valley...

There was a time when I was in love with the austen men- the dark and mysterious Edward Rochester being my fav. These were men who wrote beautiful letters to their beloved, stood by them when they failed and and never stopped loving them. I always weeped at the end of austen fairytales- when the independent and strong heroine gets her true love who loves her for who she is and what she believes in.

What was remarkable was how they sealed their love with a simple kiss. Nothing less and nothing more.Sex was irrelevant. The fact that they could hold each other and look forever into the eyes of the ones they loved was enough. Love was simple.

Is love as simple today? If the austen men were to be brought into the 21st century, would it still be all the same?

I woke up with these thoughts reeling in my head. The absence of an uncomplicated love disappoints me, but as June says, love wouldn't be half as fun if were as simple as they portray it to be.

I guess she's right. Or maybe not.

Or maybe I should just stop watching these romantic movies.
